To go Private or Not?

It seems to be popular to go private. Am I setting my children up to become snatched because they are so stinking cute? I don't know, I have been back and forth on this for years. What do you think? Share your stories I don't really think anyone is terribly attached to my stories and ramblings so I may not be missed. Oh, such a toughy!

I've been told that even if your blog is private, someone that really wants to find out information still will. My uncle (who is a cop) said the only way to be safe is to never put anything on the internet that you wouldn't want someone to find.

Don't go private. People's blogs who go private, I never look at (because they don't show up as updated). Besides, like she said, I don't think you need to worry. You can always check google reader and it shows you exactly where people are looking at your blog from.

I have thought about it a lot as well. A few times I have seen comments on our blog from someone we don't know whose blog is a bit scary so maybe it is best! Good luck with the decision.

I too have thought about it. I am afraid no one would be able to see it cause i don't have many email addresses of the people that look at mine and they don't have mine so I just stay public. But I have decided not to use names. I think I am going to keep to the first initial from now on.

I went private because I try to post a lot of our family pictures on there and felt more comfortable knowing who was looking at my blog. Although, I do agree with Bobbie, if someone wants to find out information, they still will.

I've been going back and forth about it for a while too. Until I decide to go private I just leave off personal contact info like my address, phone numbers, etc obviously. But I kind of like when random people from college and high school "find me" from blog hopping. I don't know. I see pros and cons to both. Maybe your decision will sway mine. :)

I've been thinking about this a lot too. I think I will go private soon. The internet just scares me. Ya know?

I only went private because we started our very public blog. Being private sucks! Don't do it!

Hey Sar, I guess I'm kinda late, but I thought I'd still give you my 2 cents. ;)
I went back and forth with the decision for a long time and when I finally did, I didn't regret it at all. I don't feel too bad knowing a few less people look at my blog. I know the ones I really care about my family do. :) I just know that I can easily end up on a complete strangers blog by linking from one blog to the next and it made me feel uncomfortable knowing that some weird guy could do that to mine. I agree, if someone wants to find you bad enough, they can. But even though I'm private I still don't post any personal info.

(Then again, maybe I've just seen too many Law and Orders about sexual predators. :))

I'll still check on you if you decide to go private!
