You are Special

Today was great. I had many 'moments' that I wanted to freeze and stow away for a grumpy day. It started with Jack and I getting my dads Explorer loaded up with little bits of odds and ends to take to our house in Sandy so they don't pester us on 'moving day.' Jack's flight wasn't until three so we took advantage that to get things done. As we were loading things in the car Jack turns to me and says "This is nice that we get to spend this time together" I totally agree. I love that man of mine, he really is something else. We are the perfect pair.

I started remaking a skirt today with my mother. She made me the most beautiful skirt about ten years ago, I am not kidding it is my most favorite thing I own, its made out of dupioni silk. Due to its age it has literally started to disintegrate and now we are making a new one. I am so glad.

Everett and I sat in the living room while the snow fell and the babies slept and read books. We read three of the 'Monster Books' I love those. Then we pulled out a book and as I started to read it I was caught off guard at how wonderful this book was "You Are Special" I could barely get through each word (I've read it before but its been awhile). This was a special moment indeed. A moment of teaching to my small child of how the world will tell you things that will hurt you and make you sad, but you must remember who you are. By the end of the book on the very last page before I got done reading the very last word Everett said "Its okay mom, he lost a dot. He's super happy." I love these little children of mine who help me to slow down and enjoy a special story and to learn a very important lesson.Bold

We ended the night by eating some wonderful mushroom risotto made by my amazingly talented mother. There isn't much she isn't good at especially when it comes to food. It was warm and comforting and the perfect way to end our chilly day. Jack is in Kentucky and will be home Wednesday morning. I can't wait.

I love you honey but I'm in Alabama not Kentucky. Thanks for keeping our place so great when I'm gone.
